Fee Questions
What does NSF fee mean? The term NSF stands for non-sufficient funds. This fee is assessed when item(s) attempting to post to your account exceed the available funds. Once the available funds are exceeding all posting transactions will receive an NSF fee. If your account is in good standing, Fox may pay NSF items as a courtesy instead of returning them to the payee. If courtesy pay is not available to you the item would be returned to the payee as NSF.
What does non-return fee mean? The term non-return fee is used when an item that posts to your account exceeds the available balance at that time and is paid as a courtesy instead of being returned to the payee as non-sufficient funds.
What is the difference between available balance and current balance? Available balance refers to the balance of your account minus any charges that are secured at that time. Current balance refers to the actual balance of your account not including secured items or items that have yet to clear the account. *It is important to note that outstanding checks, ACH, and debit card usage will not always be reflected in the available balance.
Why was I charged fees when I still had money in my account. Fees are assessed based on the available account balance. Therefore, any debit card usage, checks, or ACHs that attempt to post to the account and exceed the available balance will incur a fee when they post to the account. Using a checking account register to keep track of debit card usage, checks written, and ACHs authorized will help you keep an accurate account balance and avoid exceeding the available funds.
